Featured Project: Traditional Home

Q: What was the name of this project and why?

A: We called this the traditional home, as it was a traditional style built around the mid to late 80s. The owners updated the home by painting the oak trim and stair rails white and by updating the fireplace with ledge-stone. Even after a full remodel, the staircase most fully reveals this traditional style in the interior.

Q: What neighborhood was this home in?

A: The home is located in a suburb in Oregon City.

Q: Demographic of the target buyer?

A: We targeted a young family with children as the potential buyer, as this traditional home was located on a lot with a large backyard and had 4 bedrooms.

Q: Who was the client?

A: Realtor Steve Nassar of Premiere Property Group recommended that the homeowners stage their traditional home. As his preferred stager, Steve called us to provide this service to his clients. (Steve also recommended that the owners update some of the home’s features and called in his preferred contractors to do the remodel.)

Q: What challenges did you overcome?

A: The living room bay window ended with a short wall that opened to the hallway. We wanted the living area to look inviting at first glance and yet functional for entertaining.

Q: What features were you focused on showcasing?

A: The staircase was definitely a traditional home feature we wanted to be sure stood out. Consequently, we used a very neutral color palette in the living area as well as for the entry art. This allowed the architecture to remain the focal point.

The fireplace in the family room was another feature we wanted buyers to be sure to notice online as well as for open house viewing. We arranged the furniture strategically so that the fireplace was readily noticeable. As a result, buyers could envision the use of space. We staged the room with a contemporary sofa and an industrial media stand to fit the new contemporary fireplace.

This traditional home sold over the asking price within the first week of listing. Sometimes it truly “takes a village” to help homeowners gain the best equity on the sale of their homes. Together with the Realtor, homeowner, and contractors, we all enjoy the benefits of success!
