Featured Project: The Jersey Street in St. Johns

What was the name of this project and why?

We named this project The Jersey Street, since the home was located on NE Jersey St.

What neighborhood was The Jersey Street located?

The home is located in the St. Johns area of north Portland.

Who was your target buyer?

This newly built home radiated a contemporary style. Because of this, we staged The Jersey Street to appeal to an urban family or couple who enjoys entertaining. They appreciate the close proximity to downtown Portland, but love the trendy yet vintage, small town feel of St. Johns.

Who was the client?

Brent Keys hired our company to stage this home. He is a highly regarded Portland builder and his homes are always built with both quality craftsmanship and innovative design.

What challenges did you overcome?

The living room had a small footprint, but we didn’t want it to feel small. To solve this dilemma, we used a light colored sofa and white leather armless chairs to make the room look more spacious. These pieces helped it feel more stylish and contemporary as well.

The Jersey Street living room was small but we made it appear larger with light furnishings

There was a small space in the entry that was highly visible from the street. We needed to be sure that we staged this area with a stunning setting in order to make buyers anxious to see the rest of the home. We placed an oversized clock and a leather chaise lounge as a to welcome people into the home. This setup looked inviting from the outside as well as when buyers entered the home.

What features were you focused on showcasing?

We kept the staging minimal to keep from competing with the beautiful contemporary finishes and style of the home. The home had two entrances to a covered patio so we staged this area with a patio set. One patio door was located in the dining room. We staged the dining area with a large table so buyers could envision entertaining at the dining table on a warm night with the doors open. Overall, this area was very impactful.

The Jersey Street home patio was inviting from both sides

The neighbors were all excited about the home and wanted to tour it after it was staged. They loved it all — the home as well as the staging. The Jersey Street went pending in just two weeks after listing! It was a fun project and we enjoyed staging such a beautiful home!
