Featured Project: The Reimagined Craftsman

What was the name of this project and why?

We called this the Reimagined Craftsman. We took the classic craftsman style and gave it a fresh, more modern look.

The garage-type door tied the indoors to the outdoors seamlessly

What neighborhood was this home in?

The Reimagined Craftsman is located in the heart of the Alberta Arts district, an area known for its unique local  stores. The neighborhood is also a great hub of local restaurants as well as public art installations. Many of the neighbors enjoy living a sustainable lifestyle.

Who did you focus on as the target buyer?

The targeted buyer for this home is a person or family that enjoys living in an independent and diverse area of Portland. They’re attracted to the walkability to local shops and restaurants and like a hip and urban vibe — exactly what the Alberta Arts district offers.

This reclaimed wood coffee table blended perfectly with the reimagined craftsman theme

Who was the client for this Reimagined Craftsman?

The client was our very own stager Deb Garris Jones. Deb completely designed and remodeled the home herself and then after a few years, ended up renting it. She was ready to sell as she and her partner just purchased a newly constructed townhome just blocks away from this home. Deb helped hand-pick the furnishings and also staged the house as part of our team.

What challenges did you overcome?

One of the challenges in this home was making the small footprint feel spacious livable and stylish. We used a smaller sized sofa and added a white leather armless chair for a minimal and modern look. We borrowed  Deb’s round reclaimed wood coffee table to add a warmth and a sustainable feature to attract the targeted client.

We made this small-footprint home feel spacious and stylish

A small, round, white dining table opened up the space and created a pathway to the living area.

What features did you focus on showcasing?

The outdoor area was a huge feature so it was important what we stage it appropriately. Deb installed the fantastic garage-type door to open the living space to the outdoor patio. Many buyers would envision this outdoor space as an additional living room. We added outdoor furniture and a dining table. The complementary accent pillows coordinated with the indoor colors and helped to tie both spaces together.

We highlighted this home's beautiful outdoor area

This home had offers as soon as it hit the market and sold over asking. We are pleased with the outcome and Deb is now settling into her new home with her partner Tom.
