What was the name of this project and why?
We called this one the Mid-Century Dream Home Staging — and once you step inside, it’s easy to see why.
Built in 1954, it’s a beautiful tribute to classic Mid-Century design: clean lines, simple forms, and an open floor plan that flows effortlessly from room to room. The vaulted wood ceilings, exposed beams, and natural light throughout brings the outdoors in, just as the style intended.
Then, in 2020, the home got a thoughtful remodel that added modern convenience without erasing its roots. With so many warm, welcoming spaces, indoors and out, it didn’t take long for us to fall head-over-heels. And the name? Well, it just felt right.

What neighborhood is this home in?
In Southwest Portland’s Marshall Park area, this home is surrounded by towering trees, quiet streets, and has that tucked-away feeling people fall in love with. It’s a calm, green pocket of the city that feels like a retreat.
Mornings here start with quiet views and strong coffee, and the rest of the city waits just beyond the trees.
Who was your target buyer?
This thoughtfully designed 4,599-square-foot home offers space to grow, gather, and live fully—whether it’s a young professional family putting down roots or multiple generations living under one roof.
Inside, you’ll find four bedrooms and three full baths, including a daylight basement complete with its own bedroom, living area, and bath—perfect for guests, in-laws, or a private work-from-home suite.
The Mid-Century charm is everywhere, but so is the ease of modern living. From relaxed family dinners to holiday celebrations, working from home to quiet nights on the deck, this home is built for connection and comfort in every season. And with multiple decks and trails just beyond the backyard, it’s just as inviting outside as it is in.
Who was the client?
Our Realtor partner, Breylan Deal-Eriksen, brought us in to help stage the home, and we were thrilled to collaborate.
Breylan takes a strategic, client-first approach to every listing. Staging is always part of his plan, and it’s no wonder why: time and again, it delivers incredible results.
Thoughtful staging helps buyers picture themselves in the home. It builds emotional connection, boosts perceived value, and turns a beautiful space into a place someone has to have.
What challenges did you overcome?
With four distinct living areas, our biggest challenge to this mid-century dream home staging was creating a sense of flow and purpose, so buyers could easily imagine how they might live here.
The main living room naturally led into a formal dining area, with a reclaimed brick fireplace adding a subtle separation from the kitchen. To honor the home’s clean Mid-Century lines and slightly more elevated style, we anchored the space with a light linen sofa and matching chairs. Soft textures, clean silhouettes, and a piece of contemporary art gave the room a welcoming but refined feel.
For the dining area, we highlighted the owners’ beautiful table with carefully curated accessories. A sleek credenza and bar setup brought in both style and function — perfect for entertaining.
The family room just off the kitchen became a relaxed gathering spot, centered around one of the home’s three fireplaces. We brought in the owners’ sectional and layered in playful accessories and art to keep things casual. The reclaimed wood dining table helped define the space as an everyday hangout for meals, board games, or weekend lounging.
Upstairs, the bonus room gave us space to have a little fun. Inspired by the owners’ drum set, we embraced the room’s playful potential, creating a lively bonus space perfect for jam sessions or impromptu celebrations. A bar cart, bold artwork, and vibrant touches sealed the deal.
Downstairs, the daylight basement offered even more flexibility. We staged a sectional and carved out a home office nook in the main area, then styled the additional bedroom to show its potential as a guest suite, studio, or private retreat.
What features did you focus on showcasing?
More than anything, we wanted to honor this home’s connection to nature.
That meant being intentional about how furniture was placed: never blocking views, always guiding the eye to the outdoors. Those soaring wood-clad ceilings with exposed beams are a showstopper, so we paired them with light upholstery, soft fabrics, and natural materials to keep the space feeling bright and grounded.
The newly remodeled kitchen deserved its moment, too. With custom cabinetry, an exposed brick fireplace, and open shelving, it had a rustic-modern vibe we loved. We styled the shelves with a mix of plates, books, and greenery for a welcoming, lived-in look buyers could instantly imagine enjoying.
And the results?
From the first walkthrough to the final offer, the Mid-Century Dream Home Staging turned heads. Over 30 groups came through Breylan’s open house, and the home sold for an amazing $161,000 over the list price.
Buyers take notice when a home is well-prepared and thoughtfully presented. This project was a shining example of what great staging (and a great team) can do.
