What was the name of this project and why?
The builder, Kelly Ritz, named this the Oregon Dream Home after it was completed. This Street of Dreams stunner reflected the lifestyle of many Oregonians. From the reclaimed barn wood floors and Platinum Energy Efficiency, it showcases Oregon’s values. With its outdoor spaces and work from Oregon artists and Northwest Contemporary style, it also complements the Oregon lifestyle.
What neighborhood was this home in?
This 2012 Street of Dreams home was located at Theresa’s Vineyard in West Linn.
Who is your target buyer for this Street of Dreams home?
We targeted a young family who appreciates the outdoors as well as the natural and organic elements of the home. They’re also eco-conscious. As such, the home was built at Earth Advantage Platinum for maximum energy efficiency. Together with their young children, this family enjoys entertaining, especially in the many outdoor spaces.
Who was the client?
Kelly Ritz of Stone Bridge Homes NW, asked us to stage the home and take part with the interior design decisions. We helped Kelly on her Affordable Home shows in the past, and enjoy working with her company immensely.
What challenges did you overcome?
We rise to the challenge of a Street of Dreams home. Choosing the flooring, light fixtures, and even the doorbell proved to be fun and exciting. We selected the furnishings to reflect the home’s earth advantage, organic, and industrial style. These choices also represented the Oregon lifestyle.
We asked local artists, furniture makers, and a few local furniture stores to contribute to the decor. Once we described what we wanted for the custom art work and custom tables, they delivered with incredible intuition. As a result, all their original pieces blended perfectly within the overall design of this Street of Dreams home.
What features did you showcase?
Because many individuals visit the show to gain new furnishings and finishes ideas, we knew we had to stage each room in a way that it left a memorable impression. In other words, it was necessary to showcase the innovation and attention to detail throughout the home.
The flooring was constructed with reclaimed barn wood from Cornelius, Oregon. This this organic style served as a foundation for the industrial and contemporary furnishings.
We contacted Milo Lowe from Milo’s Metalworks to make a custom metal desk for the office. He also created a custom table for the kitchen dining area. Both pieces were beautiful and fit in well with the Northwest Contemporary style of the home. Additionally, he loaned us a few pieces of his custom metal art. We showcased one of these in the outdoor meditation garden just above the water feature.
Denali Furnishings delivered a custom live edge table. We were even able to hand-select the wood! This stunning piece became a main attraction at the show.
We requested pieces from several local artists and professional photographers. The result was a very appealing contemporary and industrial home.
We were honored to be a part of such a stunning Street of Dreams show and to work with Stone Bridge Homes NW. The Oregon Dream Home received the coveted People’s Choice award!
